The record to beat was set by Vipin Seth (India) who was covered by a mantle of bees weighing 61.4 kg (136 lb 4 oz). It was calculated that 613,500 bees comprised the mantle. The record was set on 9 March 2009 at the Indian Agriculture Research Institute, New Delhi, India
